It could be a homecoming of sorts for Sebastian Kessay, a former Blue Ridge all-star pitcher, whose contract was purchased last Friday by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Kessay has spent four seasons with the Houston Astros farm system – most recently with the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks. He boasts a 4-3 record on the year with a 2.45 ERA in over 69 innings.

The 25-year-old pitcher, a White Mountain Apache, led Blue Ridge to the 2011 3A state championship, then helped Scottsdale Community College to the JUCO World Series two straight years. He was then chosen by the Houston Astros with the first pick of the 22rd round of the MLB Draft in 2013.
